Copper tailings dewatering for dry stacking
A chamber press with abrasion protection, sized for continuous tailings throughput and stackable cake.

Background
A concentrator needed to reduce dependence on a tailings pond and move toward dry stacking. The duty ran continuously, so cycle time and cloth life mattered as much as cake dryness.
Duty conditions
Tailings at 25–30 % solids, abrasive, with a coarse fraction that settled quickly in the feed line. Ambient temperature, neutral to mildly alkaline pH.
Delivery scope
Press sizing study, plate and cloth selection, feed pump matching, and a commissioning spare set of plates and cloth.
What needed attention
Wear at the feed eye and even cake release were the two points to watch. Fill rate was limited during the first weeks to protect the plate faces.
What carried over
On abrasive duty, plate protection and cloth release behaviour decide service life more than press size does.
Other project scenarios
All scenarios
Dyeing sludge dewatering with reduced haulage volume
A membrane press replaced an ageing chamber unit to lower cake moisture and cut transport cost.

Pigment cake washing with consistent filtrate clarity
A membrane press with cake wash connections, specified around clarity and cross-batch cleanliness.
