Dyeing sludge dewatering with reduced haulage volume
A membrane press replaced an ageing chamber unit to lower cake moisture and cut transport cost.

Background
A dyeing and finishing plant was hauling wet cake from an ageing press. Transport cost per tonne of dry solids had become the largest line in the treatment budget.
Duty conditions
Biological and chemical sludge mixed, 2–4 % solids, fine fibres present, pH around 7, ambient temperature.
Delivery scope
Press replacement, membrane plate selection, polymer dosing guidance and operator training on the new cycle.
What needed attention
Cloth cleaning between cycles was the main operational change. Without it, fibre build-up reduced drainage within a week.
What carried over
Membrane squeeze helps most when the sludge is fine and haulage is expensive; cloth hygiene keeps the gain.
Other project scenarios
All scenarios
Copper tailings dewatering for dry stacking
A chamber press with abrasion protection, sized for continuous tailings throughput and stackable cake.

Pigment cake washing with consistent filtrate clarity
A membrane press with cake wash connections, specified around clarity and cross-batch cleanliness.
