Pigment cake washing with consistent filtrate clarity
A membrane press with cake wash connections, specified around clarity and cross-batch cleanliness.

Background
A pigment producer needed even washing through the cake and a clean discharge between colours. Carry-over from the previous batch was causing off-spec product.
Duty conditions
Fine solids at 8–15 %, coloured, mildly acidic, 40–60 °C. Batch operation with frequent product changes.
Delivery scope
Press and plate supply, wash water connection design, cloth trial across three permeabilities, and discharge procedure.
What needed attention
Wash water distribution across the plate face and cloth change time were the limiting factors, not press pressure.
What carried over
For batch colour changes, plate and cloth handling time belongs in the specification alongside filtration area.
Other project scenarios
All scenarios
Copper tailings dewatering for dry stacking
A chamber press with abrasion protection, sized for continuous tailings throughput and stackable cake.

Dyeing sludge dewatering with reduced haulage volume
A membrane press replaced an ageing chamber unit to lower cake moisture and cut transport cost.
